The company
FICOSTERRA is a marine biotechnology company that manufactures products for the agroindustry based on marine algae extractions. We have an experienced and highly skilled team specializing in the development, production, and application of these products.
FICOSTERRA produces biostimulants, carriers, and final products for agrochemical formulators. In close collaboration with our clients, we tailor solutions to meet their specific needs, providing them with the best possible options. We establish relationships grounded in expertise and trust.
Our products combine bacterial inoculants (probiotics) with marine algae extracts (prebiotics) into a single line of products.
Our technologies enable farmers to reduce production costs, enhance plant quality, and increase crop yields.
Our innovative solutions to reduce marine pollution and promote sustainable agriculture has been recognized and awarded by different national and international organizations such as the United Nations Development Programme. In 2023, the company was awarded with an European Seal of Excellence.
Ficosterra was born in 2017 thanks to the success of Hispanagar, one of the world’s leading manufacturers in the purified seaweed extracts. With an extensive knowledge on marine hydrocolloids, Hispanagar started working with agar in the 1950s.
