Ficosterra: selected to participate in Brussels in the BlueInvest Day 2020
January 31, 2020Ficosterra presents its first technical conference on algae extracts and microbial metabolism
February 14, 2020Ficosterra has gone to Almería to hear the testimony of the agricultural technical engineer Laura Duarte who tells us her experience in the use of our biostimulant, ficosagro® , in the trials of horticultural in greenhouses.
Did you know that Spain is, after China and Japan, the country with the most greenhouses in the world?
To give you an idea: in 2016 the value of horticultural production in greenhouses exceeded 2,500 million euros, representing 43% of the total dollar value of this sector. Andalusia concentrates 80% of these crops and, specifically, in Almeria, 55%.
Another important fact to consider for our economy: 65% of the production is exported!
With these relevant data, the Spanish farmer-entrepreneur has no choice but to devote special attention to caring for and optimizing the entire production process of their crops because otherwise, they (and all of us) have a lot to lose.
Aware of this, Ficosterra has made the results of our Success Cases (such as the trials of moreno and tagete tomatoes in Madrid or potatoes in Valldolid) available to distributors and farmers. They were obtained with its biostimulant ficosagro®, a 100% ecological input, certified by the Sohiscert agri-food certification entity, based on extracts of algae and microorganisms, whose regenerative action of the soil allows for the increase in productivity and profitability of crops in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.
The tests carried out during the 2018 and 2019 campaigns in crops in greenhouses (tomatoes, peppers, beans, onions, zucchini, or cucumbers) have left results very similar to those we have obtained in other crops such as strawberries, blueberries, citruses, potatoes, or alfalfa.
The shared action of the algae and the microorganisms cause the crops to experience:
- Improvement of the fruit set and fattening
- Increased and longer useful crop life
- Homogeneity of the crop
- Generalized improvement in crop health
What is the key?
The regeneration of the soil.
A nutrient-depleted soil is not able to give the plant what it needs to grow and multiply its production. On the contrary, soil regenerated by the collective action of algae and microorganism extracts makes the necessary nutrients available to the crop so that it can grow healthily, vigorously and, consequently, multiply its production.
Technicians, farmers, and entrepreneurs have been able to confirm these results and increasingly there are more that are adding to the call of sustainable agriculture. Look at the testimony of the agricultural technical engineer Laura Duarte (Cosupral)
