{"id":17379,"date":"2024-07-26T10:24:25","date_gmt":"2024-07-26T09:24:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ficosterra.com\/?post_type=proyectos&#038;p=17379"},"modified":"2025-06-19T11:12:51","modified_gmt":"2025-06-19T10:12:51","slug":"cystium-new-subcritical-method-of-extracting-phytohormones-from-macroalgae","status":"publish","type":"proyectos","link":"https:\/\/www.ficosterra.com\/en\/proyectos\/cystium-new-subcritical-method-of-extracting-phytohormones-from-macroalgae\/","title":{"rendered":"CYSTIUM"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"wp-block-group introProyecto\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><u><br>Objectives pursued<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Development of a technology for extracting specific active compounds from algae species <em>Macrocystis pyrifera<\/em> and <em>Laminaria hyperborea<\/em>, aimed at obtaining a very high concentration of highly bioactive and root-stimulating molecules through a low-temperature extraction process that preserves their natural properties and avoids high production costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Awarded with a <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/memo_15_5802\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seal of Excellence by the European Innovation Council<\/a>, this project has received funding from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdti.es\/en\/ayudas\/aid-smes-seal-excellence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CDTI (Government of Spain)<\/a> for its development and commercialization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-group has-white-background-color has-background\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-rounded\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"1049\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ficosterra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Giberelinas3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17023\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1;object-fit:cover;width:379px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ficosterra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Giberelinas3.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.ficosterra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Giberelinas3-97x146.jpg 97w, https:\/\/www.ficosterra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Giberelinas3-33x50.jpg 33w, https:\/\/www.ficosterra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Giberelinas3-50x75.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width:767px) 480px, 700px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\">THE CHALLENGE OF 21st<strong> CENTURY AGRICULTURE<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The current agricultural sector faces a huge challenge: feeding a growing population while adhering to more sustainable practices that involve reducing chemical products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To support this new population, agriculture has adopted more complex and costly farming systems that involve optimizing plant growth and productivity by selecting high-yield varieties, which often require highly assisted and costly cultivation plans, abundant irrigation plans, and the use of agrochemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides that largely leach from the soil to groundwater, rivers, and oceans, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.miteco.gob.es\/en\/agua\/temas\/estado-y-calidad-de-las-aguas\/proteccion-nitratos-pesticidas\/impacto-calidad-agua.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">causing eutrophication and loss of biodiversity<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>In a context of strong economic, social, and regulatory pressure in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boe.es\/buscar\/doc.php?lang=en&amp;id=DOUE-L-2019-81081\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EU (2019\/1009 Regulation 1107\/2009)<\/a>, farmers are aware that they must change their agricultural practices to reduce their environmental impact.
