This, without a doubt, offers <strong>greater profitability<\/strong> to the farmer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The key is explained very well by <strong>Laura Duarte<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>\u201cLand is the most important tool that a farmer has, and they have to take care of it\u201d.<\/em><\/p><cite><strong>Laura Duarte<\/strong>, agricultural technician<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Indeed, if we exhaust the land of our crops, if we mismanage them or over-exploit them, it will be very difficult to achieve their fertility and production capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Soil depletion: more than a worrisome situation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifad.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IFAD<\/a> data, around 300 million hectares in Latin America are already affected by erosion and soil depletion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking globally, the number of hectares skyrockets:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to FAO, <strong>33 percent of Earth&#8217;s land<\/strong> is moderate to <strong>highly degraded<\/strong> due to erosion, salinization, compaction, acidification, and <strong>chemical contamination of soils<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ficosterra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/bioestimulante-biofertilizante-ficosterra-ficosagro-c\u00e9sped-bokashi-c\u00e9sped-deportivo-1024x527.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6853\"\/><figcaption>Dry field with corn<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>These data give us a chilling picture: We are putting the planet&#8217;s ability to produce enough food and supply a growing population at risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The environmental NGO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.footprintnetwork.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Global Footprint Network<\/a> reports that until the end of 1969 the world consumed at the same rate as the earth produced. But this situation has changed. Year after year it has been degrading, due to over-exploitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We know that since 2017 the ability of the planet to regenerate sustainably has been exhausted. The support of external aid is needed to achieve higher productions, per the needs of the new population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Agrobiotechnology as part of the solution <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The technical summary that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fao.org\/3\/a-i5126s.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FAO<\/a> published in 2015 on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fao.org\/3\/a-i5126s.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">State of the World Soil<\/a>, stated that this trend could be reversed. Strong initiatives were necessary to promote sustainable soil management practices and the use of new technologies to complement these actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Five years have passed  and only today would we dare to say that world policies are moving in that direction. Awareness campaigns are continuing and sustainable regulations are also beginning to be implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are more and more awareness campaigns, regulations for sustainable purposes, and technologies that provide solutions to this important problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Agro-biotech companies<\/strong> such as <strong>Ficosterra<\/strong> have emerged, companies of the 21st century that contribute to changing this dynamic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our philosophy is <strong><em>to return to the earth what is extracted from it<\/em><\/strong>.
