{"id":17132,"date":"2024-07-15T12:14:29","date_gmt":"2024-07-15T11:14:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ficosterra.com\/?p=17132"},"modified":"2024-07-15T17:22:49","modified_gmt":"2024-07-15T16:22:49","slug":"ficosterra-and-beenatural-measure-the-effectiveness-of-maretech-in-crops-under-maximum-stress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ficosterra.com\/en\/ficosterra-and-beenatural-measure-the-effectiveness-of-maretech-in-crops-under-maximum-stress\/","title":{"rendered":"Ficosterra and BeeNatural measure the effectiveness of MareTech in crops under maximum stress"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignwide\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<section class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p>In September 2023, Ficosterra and the Peruvian company <a href=\"https:\/\/beenatural.pe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BeeNatural<\/a>, specialized in the development and commercialization of biorational products, began several trials to measure the effectiveness of the bio-stimulants <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ficosterra.com\/en\/products-ficosterra\/\">Cytium-k and Terramare<\/a> in crops under maximum stress conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ficosterra.com\/en\/products-ficosterra\/\">Cytium-k<\/a> is a pure extract of the marine algae Macrocystis pyrifera, from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ficosterra.com\/en\/technology\/\">Cystium technology<\/a>, certified by SHC and OMRI, with an exclusive extraction process (Cystium technology) that provides the crop with a high content of alginates and elicitors that allow the plant to increase its ability to defend itself against diseases (pests, bacteria, pathogens) or stress phenomena (extreme temperatures of cold or heat; sudden temperature changes, drought, agrochemical management, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ficosterra.com\/en\/products-ficosterra\/\">Terramare<\/a> is a liquid bio-stimulant, from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ficosterra.com\/en\/technology\/\">MareTech technology<\/a>, certified by SHC, composed of marine algae (prebiotics) and microorganisms (probiotics) that acts as a nutrient fixer and provides the crop with trace elements and alginates that help reduce abiotic stress situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-center is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong><strong>The economic profitability achieved in the trials on pink onion has been +8% in the area treated with bio-stimulants of marine algae extracts and microorganisms.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#ebebeb\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong><strong><strong>Challenges to overcome<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When crops suffer from a maximum stress water situation, they experience a series of negative effects that can affect both their development and performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Peruvian company <a href=\"https:\/\/beenatural.pe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BeeNatural<\/a> had been detecting a series of them in its cultivation practices:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Wilting and loss of turgor<\/strong>: Plants lost water through transpiration. Under water stress conditions, they cannot replenish this loss, resulting in leaf wilting and a reduction in cell turgor. This affects the plant\u2019s ability to maintain its structure and perform vital functions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reduction in photosynthesis<\/strong>: The lack of water limited the opening of stomata in the leaves, reducing the absorption of carbon dioxide and, therefore, decreasing the rate of photosynthesis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Inhibition of growth<\/strong>: Water stress also affected the growth of roots and the aerial part of the plants. Roots may deepen in search of water, but the overall growth of the plant slows down or stops, negatively impacting the size and development of the plant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reduction in fruit and seed production<\/strong>: The lack of water also affected pollination and the development of fruits and seeds, resulting in lower production and quality of the harvest. The onions had smaller calibers, some with deformities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Premature senescence<\/strong>: Plants subjected to prolonged water stress may enter a state of premature senescence, where leaves and other parts of the plant begin to age and die prematurely. This reduces the plant\u2019s ability to photosynthesize and produce the nutrients necessary for its development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Given this situation, <a href=\"https:\/\/beenatural.pe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BeeNatural<\/a>, knowing the agronomic properties of marine algae and their synergy with microorganisms, planned a series of trials to test the bio-stimulants <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ficosterra.com\/en\/products-ficosterra\/\">Cytium-k and Terramare<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-group\"><div href=\"https:\/\/beenatural.pe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BeeNatural<\/a> decided to test Ficosterra\u2019s bio-stimulants (marine algae and microorganisms) to measure a series of parameters and check their effectiveness or any type of alteration in the applied crops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trials were led by BeeNatural\u2019s Head of Research and Development, Engineer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/cleidy-rosario-gelvez-rivera-9b1772218\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cleidy Gelvez<\/a>, a professional with more than 6 years of experience in research
