Today we want to share how public-private collaboration has taken another step to help improve the competitiveness of our business fabric.<\/h4>\n

The University of Le\u00f3n and the company Ficosterra have signed a collaboration framework agreement<\/a><\/strong> to carry out joint projects and activities in research and development in the field of engineering, biotechnology, and the circular economy, which will take advantage of the infrastructures, material, and human resources of the former and the biotechnological solutions of the latter, to improve the profitability and health of the crops with innovative and ecological solutions<\/strong>.<\/h4>\n

Rector Juan Francisco Garc\u00eda Mar\u00edn<\/strong> signed the agreement on behalf of the ULE. At the same time, Ficosterra was represented by its director Luis Lombana Larrea<\/strong>, who was accompanied by the company’s Director of Institutional Relations and Communication, Arancha de la Mata Llord<\/strong>, and the ULE Professors Fernando Gonz\u00e1lez Andr\u00e9s<\/strong>, Carmen Mor\u00e1n<\/strong> and Antonio Mor\u00e1n Palao<\/strong>, from the Research Group in Chemical, Environmental and Bioprocess Engineering (IQUIMAB)<\/a><\/strong> of the ULE.<\/h4>\n

El investigador Fernando Gonz\u00e1lez ha aprovechado el momento para poner en valor los estudios en los que est\u00e1n trabajando sobre la mejora de la asimilaci\u00f3n de nutrientes por parte de los cultivos, y ha explicado que\u00a0 \u201ccuando se aplica un fertilizante, los cultivos aprovechan en el mejor de los casos un 60% o 70%<\/em>\u201d. Con la investigaci\u00f3n que desarrolla IQUIMAB, \u201cno se trata de sustituir los fertilizantes con los bioestimulantes, sino de incrementar su eficiencia, reduciendo su aplicaci\u00f3n y coste y contaminar menos<\/em>\u201d.<\/h4>\n

The researcher Fernando Gonz\u00e1lez has taken advantage of the moment to value the studies they are working on improving the assimilation of nutrients by crops, and has explained that “when a fertilizer is applied, the crops are positively affected 60-70% of the time\u201d<\/em>. With the research carried out by IQUIMAB, “it is not about replacing fertilizers with biostimulants, but about increasing their efficiency, reducing their application and cost and polluting less”<\/em>.<\/h4>\n
