Invited by the Ocean Innovation Challenge of the United Nations Development Program, the CEO of Ficosterra<\/strong><\/span>, Luis Lombana, has participated\u00a0 in Lisbon in the round table “Plastics and marine pollution: innovations for the Sustainable Development Goal 14.1”<\/a><\/span><\/h2>\n

Under the slogan “Save our oceans, protect our future”<\/strong><\/em>, the governments of Kenya<\/strong> and Portugal<\/strong> have host in Lisbon the 2022 Conference on the Oceans<\/a><\/span>, convened to study and analyze the necessary means to promote and promote SDG 14<\/a><\/span> (Conserve and use sustainably the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development) within the framework of the “Decade of the Oceans 2021-2030”.<\/h4>\n

This conference has taken\u00a0 place at a critical time when the world is coming together to mobilize, create and promote solutions to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. As part of the first stages of the recently launched Decade of Action to the Sustainable Development Goals<\/em>, the Conference has promoted a series of much-needed innovative science-based solutions to start a new chapter in global action for the oceans.<\/h4>\n

Solutions for sustainable ocean management require the application of green technologies and innovative marine resources. New solutions to such major threats as acidification, marine litter and pollution, illegal, unreported, unregulated fishing, and habitat and biodiversity loss have also be addressed and discussed.<\/h4>\n

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP)<\/a><\/span>, the United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD)<\/a><\/span>, and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF)<\/a><\/span> of the Republic of Korea (ROK) have participated in this global conference with\u00a0 the seminar “Plastics and marine pollution: innovations for SDG14.1<\/a>“<\/strong>, focused on the search for solutions that prevent the presence of plastics and other polluting elements in seas and oceans.<\/h4>\n

The event has have the presence of Anders Gr\u00f6nvall, Secretary of State for Climate and Environment of the Swedish government, and the participation of Haoliang Xu. Assistant Secretary-General, Assistant Administrator and Director of the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (RBPS), Andrew Hudson, Head of the Water and Ocean Governance Program of the United Nations Development Program; Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, President of the Maldives; Chun Kyoo Park, Head of the UNOSD Office and Ambassador Peter Thomson, Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for the Oceans, among others.<\/h4>\n
